The condom is in it’s essence, a compromise: at the moment of greatest potential pleasure, it interferes. It requires that the rush of desire be interrupted, its course modified, its sensation diminished. At the moment of being consumed by the present, a concern with the future intrudes.
~ Edward Rothstein
This is not about something that might “literary” be holding you back (lack of wealth, lack of knowledge, or lack of luck). This is about what you are putting in place to hold you back. Nobody forces you to use the condom; you choose to use it. Are you telling yourself you’ll fail at something before you even try it? Are you telling yourself you’ll fail at something because others know more about it than you? Are you telling yourself you’re not good enough for something? Are you telling yourself you’re not good enough for someone?
What’s your condom?

To sum everything up briefly I'm a krump dancer/teacher, mixed-media artiste, social media manager, writer, ex-ubervegan, ex-polyphasic sleeper, and a genocide survivor (yes, that's the brief version). If you must label me, call me "fool" or "revolutionary". I don't mind, I've been called both countless times. Pithy, very insightful, and perfectly politically incorrect. This is a brilliant post. Thanks for sharing.
